Despite it falling out of favour in recent years, Mark Pitchers’ go-to rig is still the Blowback Rig when fishing with bottom bait or wafter presentations.
Here’s a step by step guide on how he ties it and the products he uses.
Before we show you the steps to tying a blowback fishing rig, there are a few items you may need to add to your shopping basket to make this amazing rig.
- Take your chosen coated braids and cut around 12 inches from the spool.
- Strip a few inches of the coating and create a small loop in the end.
- Tie a rig ring onto the supple section of the rig, leaving enough space to attach the hook bait of choice.

4. Using a baiting needle, attach the hook bait.
5. Use a knotless knot to tie on the hook.
6. Slide a line aligna sleeve over the eye of the hook.

7. Create a large loop on the end of the rig
8. Finish the rig off with putty to keep it pinned to the lakebed
