Green Lipped Mussel Extract
GLM is widely regarded as one of the carp world’s most effective powdered attractors and unsurprisingly it is one of the most popular.
Although virtually all Green Lipped Mussel powders begin life off the coast of New Zealand, there are a number of different qualities of extract doing the rounds. Some of which are of very little use to the carp angler. The version that bears the Nutrabaits’ seal of approval is the very best and most effective available.
There is plenty of room for experimentation with regard to inclusion rates and although 4g per 500g of base mix is terrific starting point, many long-time users believe that it is even more effective at considerably higher levels.
Not just for the bait making connoisseur, adding GLM in the advised quantities to a spod or bag mix can make all the difference between a good mix and an exceptional one!
Liver Powder
This particular Liver Powder is the finest quality available and makes a superb addition to any type of mix, but its concentration and purity mean that Nutrabaits suggestions for inclusion are not as high as you may see quoted for other products elsewhere.
Fieldtester feedback indicates that 4-10g per mix is a good starting point.
Betaine HCI
Nutrabaits hugely popular Betaine HCI is a naturally occurring substance that is present in minute quantities in plants, yeasts, fungi, and the flesh of fish, crustaceans and molluscs.
Unsurprisingly it is commonly included in the production of many commercial fish feeds.
It is closely related to the amino acid.
Betaine is rated incredibly highly by experienced bait users, in fact one very well-known carp angler was once quoted as saying that he would rather go fishing without his trousers than without a few grams of these magical white granules in his bait.
Nutrabaits Betaine has been sourced from the human food industry and is of the highest quality available, with many versions on the market that are rendered useless by being cut with citric acid. Be careful what you are purchasing.
All that’s needed is 2-6g Beatine HCI per 500g of base mix which adds significantly to the inbuilt attraction qualities of any bait.

Robin Red
An ideal inclusion for bird food mixes and fish meals to name but two, this is the ingredient that gives so many of the carp world’s baits that unmistakable red tinge and the spicy undertone.
There are many Robin Red copies doing the rounds these days, but rest assured Nutrabaits is the real McCoy and is supplied directly from their friends at John E. Haiths.
The exact formulation of Robin Red is a closely guarded secret of course, but it certainly boasts a slightly peppery and spicy smell that carp undoubtedly find hard to resist..
Use at anything up to 10% in base mixes, ground baits or carpet feeds.
One of the all-time great carp bait ingredients that gives any bait a great edge.
